The Beach

Balboa Peninsula
June 21st - June 30th 2007
Well we have safely arrived back from our wonderful time in Balboa. There were a lot of first for you this week. First time walking on the sand, going in the ocean, riding a fairy to Balboa Island, meeting your Grandpa Kendell's side of the family, eating a frozen banana and sitting in a car for 10 hours for our drive home. I must say you both enjoyed every minute of it(except that last one).

We started out on a Thursday and took you to spend the night at Harris Ranch in Coalinga your first hotel experience. We took you out to dinner where other dinners got to see your excitement over olives and then took the rest of our meal to go since you were done eating. The plan was to tire you out(especially since we found out the door to the hotel room would automatically unlock when you pulled the handle) so we took you for a swim and you had a great nights sleep.
Up early on the road we made it to Mommy's good friends Tori & Greg's where they have a little girl(Natalie) just your age and lots of fun toys to keep you out of trouble.
Before meeting up with the rest of the family we hit the beach with the Brent family. It was very windy and foggy that day you guys were not to into the water but you enjoyed the sand. That afternoon we meet up with Nana and Grandpa and checked into our rental house on Ocean Ave. That evening Aunt Sharron and your cousin Kristen meet up with us.

You had a wonderful time at the beach and loved the water and the sand. You were early risers at the beach and it was a two person effort to keep you entertained until the rest of the house woke up. Nana and Grandpa would take you on walks to the beach in the morning and even took you to Rubys for Breakfast one morning so Mommy and Daddy could sleep in.
As you can see we hd a wonderful time at thte beach our only complaint was that it was over way to fast.

Now What?

Well Nate, Its been a long week for us since you decided to crawl out of your crib. We tried lowering your mattress all the way to the floor but that has not stop you so we have spent the week reading (Supernanny and US weekly with a mini light that papa gave us) in your room and waiting for you to go to sleep at night. (this does not include nap time rituals)This new process takes at least an hour so I have to say I have given up on relaxing in front of the TV for now and just go straight to bed so that I am ready for your 5:30 am greeting. Drew is a little upset that you get all the attention since you have to be repeatedly put back in your crib so he has now gone to full out screaming. ear plugs anyone???

Since there is no point in switching one of you to a toddler bed we have decided to wait until we get back from your first trip to the beach with Nana and Grandpa. When we return we will do the inevitable and switch your beds to toddler beds. This will actually be perfect timing because your daddy and I have ordered you a new door for your room which will be ready for installation when we get back. We will win this one eventually......

18 Months

So Boys, as you can see by the picture I'm skipping to the now.
You are very active and love to be outside. We spend our mornings in the backyard you are usually wet from the dog water and any other water you can find in the backyard by 9am and in napping by eleven so that I can have a shower. YIPPIE!!
Nathan you love to Climb. Your first escape was out of the pack n play at Noni's. Where once out you proceded to find the excerise ball in Noni and Papa's room and walk down the hall rolling the ball in delight before anyone noticed that you had escaped. Meanwhile your brother is stuck in his bed calling for you. He is always giving you away at this point because he can not climb over things....YET......
You both say lots of words but your favorite is "No", which I'm sure you unfortunaly learned from your mother telling you over and over again as you climb on the kitchen chairs onto the table. This is where Nate said his first sentence. "I said No"
Andrew you have had your moments as a baby (boy did you) but I must say at this point you spend much less time in Time Out than your brother.
About this Photo: You are 18 months old and the only way that I can get a picture of the two of you in the same frame is with food. This picture was taken at your Noni and Papa's house on your first over night with them without mommy and daddy.
