Big Boy Bike

Just a quick note because again I have not been keeping up with my blog. to think I did so well when I first got started. Today we went to the park with Luke and Thea and they had big kid bikes. Nate couldnt wait to hop on, thanks to the practice on his tricycle it didnt take him long before he was crusing all over the tennis courts at the park. Andrew took a try at it to but couldnt quite get the brakes part down so he lost intrest.

First Hospital Visit

The end of March and all of April have been pretty rough here at the Seamans household. It started with a trip to Noni and Papas that left Andrew not feeling to well at that time we thought probably from Oak Tree allergies. Lucky I had made an appointment early in the week to see an allergy specialist. or maybe not so lucky..

Andrew and I went to Dr.Renard and he ordered blood test to see what kind of allergies Andrew had. in the mean time he gave me some medicine to help with his symptoms. I gave Andrew the medicine on Friday at 4pm by 11:30pm we were at Redding Medical Center because his eyes were swollen shut and his lips were four times their normal size. I will spare all the details but we were admitted to Mercy hospital of course not the one we went to because they do not have a pediatric ward. So we took the ambulance to Mercy. Mommy and Andrew's first ride, actually kinda fun considering the circumstances. We arrived at Mercy and straight into our room at about 4am.

We spent the weekend(which felt like months) at Mercy where poor Andrew didn't sleep much from all the steroids and benadrly he was on. Finally by Saturday at 5pm, when he had awful hives from head to toe and had not slept, they stopped the steroids and benadrly and he(we) slept from 10pm to about 5am Sunday morning. When he woke up he was much better no more hives and a clean bill of health. We left by 2:30 that afternoon.

We couldn't have made it through the weekend without family. Grandma, Grandpa Downey and Auntie Sharon were so wonderful through all of this, they took care of Nate(who was home with a 101 fever) the whole weekend. They also all managed to come by and visit along with auntie Jessica and Denise.

So Monday morning came and I called Dr. Renard about what happened we went in to see him that morning and when we got there Andrew was coughing and couldn't breath well so they immediately did breathing treatments after further examination we found out you also had a double ear infection.(umm how did they miss that at the hospital) I think Dr. Renard thought you had a virus so he wanted to send us to our peds Dr. but I'm thankful that he didn't. he sent us home with a breathing machine and lots of meds. But no steroids because I wanted you to sleep. That afternoon Andrew still seemed to be coughing a lot which is a sign that he couldn't breath well (we learned that early at our appointment) so I called the office they told me to go to the hospital. Oh no...by the way Nate you were at Grandmas. so back we went to the hospital. another stronger breathing treatment and they let us go home.

We went back to Dr. Renards Tuesday morning, again Andrew was coughing and not doing well.He got four breathing treatments and steroids we stayed at the Dr's office til noon. the Dr was upset they didn't keep us at the hospital as Andrew's oxygen level was 88..100 is normal. oh did I mention I got pulled over on the way to the Dr. office. cried my way out of a ticket(uncontrollable ,not my proudest moment) and went on my way. (it was one good thing that happened that week.) Dr. Rendard and his staff were great got Andrew back to normal and sent us home, and told us to come back the next day. we went to the office every day that week but things were on the way up.

Until, Saturday Nate woke up throwing up. he had the flu and looking back Andrew probably had it starting on Wed as he had been throwing up a couple times that day and had really bad diarrhea the rest of the week that I though was from the ear infection meds until Nate ended up sick. so another week of being sick we all made it through and thank god mommy and daddy didn't not end up with the flu.

Andrew is done with the steroids and the ear infection Medicine and now only taking singular and having breathing treatments twice a day. We did finally get those allergy test back that I mentioned that we did like two weeks ago and Andrew is in fact highly allergic to oak trees, pecan trees and mildly to grasses. Oak trees are plenty in redding so I only hope he grows out of it. On the bright side in Redding with the heat I have been told should all be dead by June. Yippee one reason to be grateful for summer heat.

needless to say we are ready for a new month.....health is the most important thing you can have in your life and the one thing you take for granted until you have a sick baby.
