So you boys at the wee age of 2 years and 9 months have already caused me to have some not so proud moments and so as I write the good I must also include the bad. (can't make myself look like some great mom all the time)
A few weeks ago we had a play date with some friends and as the moms sat inside (mistake) the kids were outside playing when I looked out the window and saw Andrew and a friend about to go to blows over the toy lawnmower. As quickly as I tried to jump from the table and out the door to prevent any real damage I did not make it and Andrew in frustration bite his friend through his shirt in the back shoulder. Now this was not the first time Andrew has ever bitten anyone. Both of the boys have gone in and out of biting phases but have only ever bitten each other and they bite hard. I have heard of biting back but I just couldn't bite them any harder than they bite each other and if that doesn't teach them that it hurts than I don't think me biting them will help.
Anyhow we got through it but it was a very not so proud moment for mom. Since then I have had a few talks with the boys just to remind them that we don't bite and that it really hurts and I'm happy to say that Andrew has not bitten anyone since that day not even his brother. I will be happy when this phase is over and realize that not all kids go through this phase but being a mother that has two kids that seem to be bitters it is an embarrassing difficult situation.
So now on to today which brought me here in the first place. I was inside cooking and the kids were in the backyard playing when Nathan came in to tell me he had been throwing rocks over the fence. I said to him you know we don't throw rocks over the fence. Which fence were you throwing them he told me Sean's he then told me he didn't hit any windows. I told him thank you for telling me but next time he throws rocks over the fence he will be in big trouble. He went back outside and I did think it odd that he told me he was throwing rocks since I know he knew that was not OK. of course he did say Andrew was too. So a little while later I get a call from Sean. Turns out Sean caught them throwing rocks over the fence and they did in fact hit a window. no damage done but really I have to worry about broken windows at age 2! We had another talk about when it is OK to throw rocks and will be apologizing to the neighbors.
I'm sure there are more stories that I have already forgotten and Im sure there will be more that I will wish to forget but these are the two fresh in my mind.
