Beamans 2nd annual camping trip
Our camping trip started as usual months of planning everything set and then the rain came. Not just rain, thunderstorms, moving straight for our camping trip in Oregon so the Monday before we left we decided that is was time to move locations. The storms were moving north so we decided that we better go south.
Our criteria not to far from home so that we can turn back at anytime, water for the kids to play and a bathroom. Well two out of three isn't bad. We ended up camping out of Orland at Black Butte lake. We were a little nervous because Orland is not the greatest town in CA but there was a Dutch Brothers(that we went to daily, since we had to go to town because we needed ice :)). I made our annual camping shirts and we stuck with orange as it worked for us the year before it does well in dirt.
The campsite was on a hill, which if you laid to bed in the wrong direction you could give yourself a head rush and of course you wanted to be the one rolling into the people down the hill as you slept not the one being smashed up against the tent. Close by we had the use of a wonderful porta potty but with a little hike we did find a bathroom with a flush toilet and a shower. It was much easier to have the kids use the great outdoors. I'm so glad we have boys.
The weather could not have been better high 80's and No rain, ( we did watch the lighting show happening in Redding but not a drop of rain) the lake was great (and where we showered), warm even and thanks to Roxanne we did not forget a thing. The kids got dirty, made smores, rode bikes and Uncle Marc even showed up one day with his boat and took the boys on there first spin behind a boat. The adults maintained order and discovered SVEDKA.
Will we go back to Black Butte lake to camp probably not because there are many more campsites for the Beamans to conquer! Plus there where no outlets for me to blow up my Areo bed. We all came home in one piece although I can't say that about the home we came home to. Poor Siena did not care for being alone and listening to the Thunder so she destroyed two sets of Hunter Douglas blinds.. so the camping trip ended up being a little more expensive than we budgeted. All in all another successful camping trip that we greatly enjoyed.
Can't wait until next year!!
